St. Peter's Health and Logan Health Announce Spine and Brain Surgery Partnership

August 10, 2021

St. Peter's Health and Kalispell-based Logan Health announced today a new innovative partnership to expand spine and brain surgical care into Helena.  Beginning July 2021, surgeons and specialists from Logan Health's Neuroscience and Spine team will perform surgeries and provide specialty neurological care at St. Peter’s Health so people with neck and back conditions can avoid having to travel.

The Logan Health spine team offers surgical solutions for various conditions, including herniated disc of the neck and back, lumbar stenosis, and acute pain causing instability and more. The team also provides comprehensive office consultations for central nervous system disorders like brain tumors and surgical care for Parkinson’s disease.

Outpatient consultations will take place at St. Peter's Medical Group - Broadway Clinic (2550 Broadway St. in Helena) and surgical procedures will be performed in the St. Peter's Regional Medical Center’s new state-of-the-art surgical suites. “The collaborative partnership between these two progressive health care systems will provide surgical solutions for the Helena community, in the Helena community,” said Logan Neurological Surgeon TC Origitano, MD, PhD. “Synergistic partnerships such as this blend the experience, technology and facilities of two systems to provide convenience and quality outcomes, optimizing patient experience.”

The partnership was announced following the recent renovation and expansion of the Operating Room at St. Peter’s. St. Peter's now has six new surgical suites equipped with advanced communication and infection control technology, along with a highly-trained team committed to safe, high quality surgical care. “We are proud to have some of the most sophisticated operating rooms in the state of Montana, and our team is excited to welcome and work alongside the Logan Health providers," said St. Peter's Chief Medical Officer and President of the Regional Medical Center Shelly Harkins, MD. "Our partnership with Logan Health reflects our ongoing commitment to help people receive the care they need closer to home, and is the latest example of collaboration with other health care organizations so we can deliver cost-effective and high-quality care locally."

Patients are encouraged to speak with their primary care provider or orthopaedist to determine whether neurosurgery consultation is recommended. More information is available at sphealth.org/spineandbrainsurgery.
