The Medical floor is a 37-bed unit located on the east side of the main level. It consists of 11 semiprivate rooms and 15 private rooms. The Medical unit is an inpatient unit that provides quality medical and nursing care and at times provides outpatient services. The Medical floor provides acute care to a patient population that is young adult (age 18) to geriatric. Under special circumstances, with approval from the Director, younger adolescents may be admitted. The majority of patients are admitted with heart and lung conditions ranging from acute episodes to chronic. Other admits include uncontrolled metabolic disorders, infectious processes, neurological and circulatory impairment and secondary conditions such as kidney disease, etc. The department also provides services for stable outpatients who require nursing monitored services such as antibiotic therapy and blood transfusions and stable patients transferred from the ICU requiring further nursing care.

To coordinate the patient’s plan of care involving an interdisciplinary approach including physician, hospital staff, patient and family. To provide exemplary medical care to the patient and education concerning medication, pain management, and to provide an explanation of the use of medical equipment to patients and family members. To provide psychosocial, emotional and spiritual support and intervention to patients and family members. To ensure a safe, caring environment for patients by providing well-trained and knowledgeable staff. |
