The Intensive Care Unit is an eight-bed unit located on the northeast side of the main level. It consists of eight private rooms. The ICU is an inpatient unit that provides highly skilled and qualified nursing care for critically ill patients. Critically ill patients are admitted that require specialized and advanced technical nursing care, which is coordinated by the critical care nurse to include other disciplines as necessary.

High quality compassionate care, Patient advocacy, Caring communication, Compassionate support to family, Listen and respond to patient concerns, Explain all tests and procedures, Encourage patients to ask questions, Share patient questions with physicians, Listen to the patients story and concerns, Be courteous, kind and respectful, Provide patient and family with encouragement and reassurance, Treat patient with dignity, maintaining privacy, Maintain a quiet and restful environment, and Have a sense of humor. |
| b. Patients are stabilized through planned nursing care and then transferred to the appropriate nursing floor. c. Through the plan of care, patients receive education concerning their medical condition and progress, information about their medications and pain management. |

2. Objectives |
| a. To coordinate the patient’s plan of care involving an interdisciplinary approach including physician, hospital staff, patient and family. b. To provide exemplary medical care to the patient and to provide education concerning medication, pain management, and use of medical equipment to patients and family members. c. To provide psychosocial, emotional and spiritual support and intervention to patients and family members. d. To ensure a safe, caring environment for patients by providing well-trained and knowledgeable staff. |
