Why Is Expansion Needed?

Why this is Needed:
  • Service area population expected to grow 12.5 percent by 2011

  • Residents age 45-64 projected to grow 28 percent and those 65 and older projected to grow 32 percent by 2011

  • Growth of middle aged and seniors to drive ambulatory service volume; specifically advanced imaging and therapeutic care, cardiology, orthopedics, oncology, and neurology

  • Increased population to require approximately 20 additional acute care beds by 2011

  • Increased population to drive a 36 percent increase in Emergency Department visits, 22 percent increase in inpatient volume, and 36 percent increase in outpatient volume over the next 10 years

  • Ninety percent of the Hospital is more than 35 years old

  • Reduced transportation of patients for improved privacy and continuity of care

  • More efficient layout to reduce operating costs

  • Assists with recruitment and retention of physicians and staff

  • Utilizes existing plant while positioning it to meet the future needs for several years
