History
- Founded in 1883 by the Episcopal Diocese of Montana
- In 1931, a board of trustees transferred ownership of St. Peter’s from the Episcopal Diocese the Helena community for $1
- The first Hospital was built in 1887 and remained in operation until 1968 when a new facility was constructed at its current location, 2475 Broadway
- Major additions from 1982 to 1996 included more laboratory and emergency services space, a new medical wing, and Cancer Treatment Center
- In 1999, St. Peter’s partnered with physicians to open the Helena Surgi-Center adjacent to the Hospital and also constructed the Maria Dean Medical Office Building next to St. Peter’s
- Phase I of a $43 million construction project was completed in fall 2005 with the entire project estimated to be completed in December 2007
